Biography: Prof. Saki Mafundikwa is the founder/director of the Zimbabwe Institute of Vigital Arts (ZIVA), a design and new media college. He holds an MFA in graphic design from Yale University. His book, Afrikan Alphabets: the Story of Writing in Africa is the first book on Afrikan typography. His award winning film, Shungu: The Resilience of a People premiered at 2009’s International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam (IDFA). It has screened at the top film festivals globally. He spoke at TED2013 in LA. He was keynote speaker at the Autodesk University Education Summit in Las Vegas in 2014. He also spoke at the International Design Congress in Gwangju, Korea last October. He lives and works in Harare, Zimbabwe.
