Shilumbe Chivuno Kuria, Namibia

Dr. Shilumbe Chivuno-Kuria

Biography: Dr. Shilumbe Chivuno-Kuria is lecturer in the Computer Science Department at Namibia University of Science and Technology. She is currently pursuing my Doctor of Philosophy in Computer Science. She obtained my Master of Technology from Polytechnic of Namibia and my Bachalor of Science degree from University of Namibia with a major in Computer Science.  She has taught at University level for over 10 years. She has actively participated in research with both local and international researchers since 2008.

Her research areas include Indigenous Knowledge Systems, Participatory Design with Marginalised and/or Unemployed Youth. She has also co-organised various conference including: Indigenous Knowledge and Technology Conference (2011), Participatory Design Conference (2014), Emerging Trends and Computer Communications (2015)  and most recently the Namibian Women in Computing Conference (27th February, 2016).

Currently, she is a research partner in a four year (2014-2018) Participatory Tools for Human Development with the Youth (PARTY) project funded by the European Union under the Horizon 2020, Marie Sklodska-Curie Actions Research and Innovation Exchange (RISE). She is also a researcher in a project “Live Design, Transform Life” funded by the National Commission on Research, Science and Technology in Namibia.
